Aseel Hawi, LMT

Aseel graduated from Northern Virginia School of Therapeutic Massage and obtained her license through the District of Columbia Board of Massage Therapy. She is an active member of the American Massage Therapy Association and currently serves its DC Chapter as a delegate to the National Massage Therapy Convention. Aseel came to massage therapy from an interest in post-traumatic stress disorder and recovery.

As a trauma survivor herself, Aseel works compassionately to support others through massage, sharing a safe space with the intention of healing physically, emotionally and mentally. She believes the healing process begins with trust and is enhanced with a knowledgeable touch of the body. Hence she begins her sessions with an intake and physio assessment, tailoring goals to accommodate each person’s needs. Her unique and naturally rhythmic therapeutic style integrates several modalities including Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and hydrotherapy. Aseel leaves her clients deeply relaxed and comfortable in their own bodies and provides them with the guidance for self-care and awareness to take with them into their daily lives.

Aseel has been living and working in Washington DC for eight years. She was raised in Yemen and traveled in the Middle East quite a lot. She moved to the United States in 2010 from Norway where she attended an international boarding school for two years; an inspiring experience that fueled her curiosity about different cultures and disciplines. In 2013, Aseel earned her BA degree in Economics from the University of Florida with a minor in Women’s Studies.
